Licensed & Insured Pool Heater Repair in Fort Myers & Southwest Florida
The pump is the heart of your pool. When it stops, everything stops: circulation, filtration, sanitation, and within a couple of Florida summer days, water quality. A&E Pools repairs pool pumps across Fort Myers and the rest of Lee and Collier County, usually in a single visit, and gives you a plain answer when a pump is not worth fixing.

Pumps almost always warn you. A screech or grinding is usually bearings. A hum with no water movement points to a seized motor or a failed capacitor. An air-filled pump basket, or a pump that loses prime overnight, means a suction leak, and telling a suction leak from a pool leak is exactly the sort of call our leak detection work exists for. A breaker that trips when the pump starts, dripping from the pump seal, or visibly cloudy water on a normal schedule all belong on the same list. Green water on a pump that has been limping for weeks is no coincidence: our guide to green pool water explains how fast circulation loss turns into algae here.

Failed capacitors, worn bearings, and burned windings are the most common calls. Capacitors and bearings are quick, economical repairs. A burned motor on an older single-speed pump usually changes the conversation, and we will tell you why below.
Shaft seals fail from age and from running dry, and a leaking seal left alone destroys the motor beneath it. Impellers clog and wear, housings and unions crack, o-rings flatten. All are single-visit repairs when the motor is still healthy.
Air leaks at the pump lid, unions, or valves make a pump run loud, lose prime, and chew through seals. We pressure-test the suction side rather than guessing at it.
Pump behaving strangely right now? Call (239) 888-6617 or book a repair visit and we will get your water moving again.

The technician tests the pump under real load, checks amperage draw against the motor plate, inspects the seal plate and impeller, and pressure-checks the suction side. You get the cause, the fix, and the cost to repair before anything is opened up. It is the same diagnose-first discipline as all our pool equipment repair work: replace the failed part, not the whole pad.

Here is the honest math for Southwest Florida. A pool pump here runs far more hours per year than the national average because our season never really ends. If your pump is a single-speed unit more than a few years old and needs a motor, putting money into it is usually the wrong call: a variable-speed pump running long and slow moves the same water for a fraction of the electricity, runs quieter, and current Florida efficiency rules restrict what single-speed units can even be installed as replacements. We will show you the repair number and the replacement number side by side, and financing is available when replacement is the smarter path. Replacements are handled through our pool systems and equipment team, often on the same visit.

Outstanding experience with A & E Pools! I couldn’t be happier with the work A & E Pools did on my pool. From the beginning of the project all the way through the finishing touches, they were professional, knowledgeable, responsive, and genuinely committed to making sure everything was done right. A pool project is a major investment, and there are a lot of details that have to come together. A & E Pools handled the process extremely well. The workmanship was excellent, and they paid close attention to the details that really make a difference in the finished product. The finished pool looks absolutely beautiful and has exceeded my expectations. The quality of the pool finish and the overall craftsmanship really stand out. They also did a great job communicating throughout the process and addressing any questions or concerns along the way. What impressed me most was that they didn’t just disappear once the work was completed. They continued to make sure everything was right and that I was completely satisfied with the result. That kind of customer service is becoming harder and harder to find. I highly recommend A & E Pools to anyone considering building or renovating a pool. They delivered a beautiful finished product and provided the level of professionalism and service you hope for when making such a significant investment. Five stars all the way! I’m extremely happy with my new pool and would absolutely recommend A & E Pools to anyone looking for a pool company.Posted on Google![]()

We spent months researching pool companies before choosing A&E Pools, and it was definitely the right decision. The team was easy to reach, always willing to answer questions, and kept us informed throughout the project. Seeing our backyard transformed into a space where we can relax and entertain has been incredible. Thanks to everyone involved!
Most pump deaths are preventable. Keep baskets empty so the pump never strains for water, keep water level up so it never runs dry, and keep chemistry balanced so seals are not eaten from the inside, which is the daily work of our weekly pool cleaning routes. If your pump runs on a schedule through an automation system, we will check the programming too, because a mis-set schedule quietly doubles run hours. Ongoing pool service and maintenance catches most of these problems while they are still cheap.
Usually a failed start capacitor or a seized motor. Turn the pump off rather than letting it hum, because a humming motor is cooking its windings, then call for a diagnosis.
A day or two is survivable in winter. In summer heat, water quality slides within 48 hours. Tell us when you call if the pump is fully down and we prioritize the visit accordingly.
If the repair is a seal, capacitor, or impeller and the motor is healthy, repair it. If the motor itself has failed on an older single-speed pump, replacement with a variable-speed unit almost always wins once electricity savings are counted.
Expect fewer years than the brochure says, because pumps here run nearly year-round. Well-maintained pumps commonly serve seven to ten years; neglected ones fail in half that.

A failing pump never picks a convenient week. Call A&E Pools at (239) 888-6617 or request a visit and we will have circulation back before the water turns.
