Custom Pergola Builders in Fort Myers, FL
Shade, style, and structure: a custom pergola from A&E Pools gives your Fort Myers backyard all three. Cover your pool deck, define an outdoor dining area, or create a shaded retreat beside your outdoor kitchen; we design and build pergolas that elevate your entire outdoor living space, built for Florida’s climate and tailored to your property, the finishing touch that ties your backyard together.
A pergola is not just a shade structure; it is the architectural centerpiece of your outdoor living space. Thoughtfully designed and professionally built, it defines zones, adds vertical interest, protects you from the Southwest Florida sun, and makes your backyard feel like a true extension of your home. We have built custom pergolas and outdoor living environments across the region since 2017, backed by more than 10 years of hands-on construction experience.
Licensed (CPC1459515), insured, and proud FSPA members, we bring the same craftsmanship and accountability to your pergola that we bring to every pool and outdoor living build, serving homeowners throughout Lee, Collier, Charlotte, and Sarasota Counties, with our family-owned team beside you from first design consultation to final installation.
Not all pergolas are created equal, and in Southwest Florida, where the sun is intense, humidity is high, and afternoon storms are a fact of life, material selection and structural quality matter more than anywhere else. We design every pergola to handle this climate while looking stunning year after year, using durable, weather-resistant materials that will not rot, warp, fade, or deteriorate under the relentless Florida sun.
We offer attached pergolas, anchored to your home to extend your living space outward, and freestanding pergolas positioned anywhere in your yard to create a defined outdoor room. Both can be customized with louvered or solid roofing, integrated lighting, ceiling fans, and details that complement your home’s architecture. Choosing a contractor for the job? Our guide on how to choose the right pergola builder covers the questions worth asking anyone, including us. Stop by our Fort Myers showroom to see materials and styles up close.
A pergola is most powerful as part of a complete outdoor environment, where every element looks planned together because it was. Pair yours with a custom outdoor kitchen underneath for the ultimate shaded cooking and entertaining space, or anchor it to a beautifully finished patio or hardscape for a polished, cohesive backyard you use every day.

Both attached pergolas, which connect directly to your home and extend covered living space into the backyard, and freestanding pergolas placed anywhere on your property. Both can be customized with roofing styles (open lattice, louvered panels, or solid covers), integrated lighting, ceiling fans, and finishes that match your home’s architecture and your style.
Florida’s heat, humidity, UV, and salt air demand materials engineered for outdoor durability. We select weather-resistant options that will not warp, rot, fade, or corrode over time, walk you through the best fits for your project, budget, and look during the free consultation, and have samples at our Fort Myers showroom.
Absolutely; it is one of our specialties. We regularly build pergolas within larger outdoor living projects that include pools, outdoor kitchens, and custom patios. Designing everything together ensures seamless aesthetic integration and a cohesive backyard where every element complements the others, and it is the most efficient approach for a complete transformation.
Requirements depend on size, structure type, and whether the pergola attaches to your home. As a licensed and insured contractor, we handle the permitting process on your behalf, the same way our pool permits and planning team manages county approvals for every build. Your project stays fully code-compliant and you never navigate permitting alone.
Timelines vary with design complexity, material lead times, and permitting. A standalone pergola is often completed within a few weeks once permits are approved; a pergola inside a full outdoor living project follows the larger construction schedule. You get a clear, realistic timeline during your free consultation.
A shaded poolside structure, a covered entertaining area, or a freestanding backyard retreat: we have the design expertise and construction experience to build it right. See finished pergolas in our outdoor living gallery, then contact us for your free, no-obligation pergola consultation.
